Sending Emails

Design and send emails with Nitrosend

Nitrosend supports two ways to send emails: campaigns for bulk sends to a list, and transactional messages for one-off sends triggered by your app.

Campaigns

Campaigns let you send an email to a contact list or segment. Create one from the dashboard:

  1. Go to Campaigns > New Campaign (app.nitrosend.com/my/campaigns)
  2. Choose a template or start from scratch
  3. Select your audience (a contact list or segment)
  4. Preview, test, and send

Transactional messages

For receipts, password resets, and other triggered emails, use the API:

curl -X POST https://api.nitrosend.com/v1/my/messages \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer nskey_live_..." \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "channel": "email",
    "to": "user@example.com",
    "subject": "Your receipt",
    "html": "<h1>Thanks for your purchase</h1>",
    "body": "Thanks for your purchase"
  }'

Links in transactional messages go straight to their destination. Nitrosend never rewrites them for click tracking, because they often carry sign-in, reset, or confirmation tokens. Open tracking still follows the brand setting in Open and click tracking.

Email editor

The drag-and-drop editor lets you build responsive emails visually. Your brand theme (colors, fonts, logo) is applied automatically. All emails are rendered as MJML under the hood for maximum inbox compatibility.

Sending activity

The sending activity log shows individual sends across campaigns, flows, transactional messages, and tests. Use it to inspect delivery status, failures, and message details after a send.

Use the suppressions API when you need the account-level block list and bounce diagnostic text behind failed recipients. GET /v1/my/suppressions returns the suppressed address, reason, source event reference, and bounded provider diagnostic when available.

Open and click tracking

Nitrosend measures opens with a small image in the HTML part of each email, and clicks by sending links through a tracking redirect. Both are on for every brand by default and feed the Opened and Clicked numbers in Activity and the engagement filters in segments.

Turn either off for a brand under Brand > Sender > Engagement tracking (app.nitrosend.com/my/brand/sender), or set email_track_opens or email_track_clicks to false on PATCH /v1/my/brands/{sid} (see the API Reference). The card shows the current setting, and GET /v1/my/brands/{sid} returns both fields.

  • Open tracking off: emails carry no tracking image.
  • Click tracking off: links point straight to their destination. Links in transactional messages never go through the redirect, whatever the setting.
  • The unsubscribe link is never rewritten.

The change applies to emails rendered after you save it. A campaign already sending switches over from its next batch. Emails already delivered keep their image and links, and their links redirect as before, but opens and clicks from them are no longer recorded.

Opens and clicks recorded before you turned tracking off stay in Activity and segments. To delete them, email contact@nitrosend.com: support deletes the recorded events for the tracking you turned off, segment engagement is rebuilt without them, and aggregate counts stay.

View in browser

Emails sent from Nitrosend can include a view-in-browser snapshot. This gives recipients a stable web version of the email and gives your team a reliable way to inspect what was sent after delivery.
